Occupational Therapy - Capacity Building
My passion is supporting people with disabilities to meet their goals. I love to form relationships with people and their families to help them engage in the activities they love.
Working with me may look like supporting you to learn to cook, to move around safely in your home, become independent with dressing, or be able to meet up with friends. We’ll work together to find out what is most important to you.
I’m passionate about working with Support Workers to help them learn how to facilitate opportunities when they are spending time with their clients - learning strategies and implementing them, so their client can participate.
Home Modifications is a special interest of mine - I’ve supported many clients with changes to their home to support their safety, participation and independence. From install of rails, ramps, and bidets, to passenger lifts, and major bathroom modifications.
I can support participants with understanding the role the NDIS rules and the ‘reasonable and necessary’ criteria play in funding of Home Modifications.
If you already have an Occupational Therapist working with you, I am happy to provide consults for Home Modifications only. Please reach out.
I have many years experience supporting clients with Assistive Technology prescription. I’ll work with you to assess your environment, posture, needs, and the other factors influencing the need for equipment prescription, and together, determine what features you may require in a piece of Assistive Technology.
